Options Bolsters Partnership with Queen’s Rowing Following Year of Success on the Global Stage

London / New York / Hong Kong, 26th April 2024, Options Technology, a trailblazer in capital markets infrastructure, today announced its continued sponsorship of Queen’s University Belfast Rowing following a year of success and growth for the club on the global stage.

Over the last 12 months, Options’ sponsorship enabled two overseas training camps, and triumphs at the highest levels, with some of the club’s senior athletes gaining international selection and qualification for the upcoming Paris Olympics.

In 2024, Queen’s Rowing finished 6th in the overall standings after picking up 9 medals at British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS), which marked the team’s highest performance at the prestigious tournament. In 2023, the club took home 11 medals at the BUCs regatta, ranking 8th overall of the 84 universities competing, and 5th overall in the men’s event.

Options Technology already shares close ties to Queen’s Rowing, with world-class rowers Olivia BlundellRyan Ballantyne and former Men’s Captain Dominic Murtagh all part of the team at Options.

Danny Moore, Options’ President and CEO, commented, “With record-breaking successes, unprecedented growth and Olympic-level recognition, we are proud to support what is shaping up to be the next generation of elite sporting talent from Queen’s University Belfast.

We believe our sponsorship will help carry the torch for the continued prosperity and development of the entire Queen’s Rowing team, and we are delighted to help nurture and support the club’s future on the global stage.”

Franny Curtis, Queen’s University Belfast Boat Club Women’s Captain, said, “We are delighted to continue our partnership with Options into the upcoming 2024 season and beyond. Their sponsorship will support the continued growth of the club, aiding in the supply of new equipment, and enabling us to travel further than ever before, from training camps to prestigious worldwide tournaments. Together with Options, Queen’s rowing can maintain its commitment to excellence, showcasing and enhancing the club’s performance on both the national and global stage.”

Karl Oakes, Head of Sport and Physical Wellbeing at Queen’s, added, “Queen’s Sport seeks to maximise the academic and sporting potential of our students and there is a clear synergy with the values and aspirations of Options which already provides global opportunities for many Queen’s graduates. This sponsorship will allow us to continue to invest in our students and in Queen’s Rowing and provide the best possible development opportunities for them.”

Options’ partnership with Queen’s Rowing is just one example of its commitment to social responsibility and giving back to the community, most recently with its sponsorship of the St.Patrick’s Day SPAR Craic 10K and its company-wide donation of £57,061 for PIPS Suicide Prevention Ireland.

Today’s news comes as the latest in a series of exciting developments for Options, including, the appointment of Laura McCann to CFO and its achievement of Employer for the Future with The Irish News and IT Team of the Year with The Belfast Telegraph.
